Acer palmatum Beni komachi

The leaves of 'Beni komachi' emerge brilliant crimson before darkening to a greenish red with crimson edging.  Its unique foliage is kind of crinkly and twisted, giving it a must-have look in any partially shaded garden.  The name, 'Beni komachi', means "beautiful re-haired little girl."  This rare cultivar may reach 7 feet in ten years.
