Acer palmatum Bloodgood

'Bloodgood' is one of the most popular red-leafed palmatums that is also easy to overwinter.  It is the standard to which other maples are compared.  Basically, it is a no-fuss tree that grows to 15 feet in 10 years.  Its leaves emerge a deep red in spring, and keeps its color all growing season.  It does not "bronze out" as many do.  Grows well in full sun to part shade with very little leaf scorch.
