Acer japonicum Aconitifolium

‘Aconitifolium’ is one of the most desirable trees in any collection, arboretum, and botanic garden.  Its Japanese name is ‘Maiku jaku’, which means “dancing peacock”.  The leaves of this maple is a deep green becoming an intense red, almost purple, in fall.  The leaves of this vigorous plant reach out horizontally, giving it an Asian appearance.
