Acer palmatum Okushimo

‘Okushimo’ is definitely a rare an unusual variety for any garden.  The margins of each rich green lobe is curled up, lending itself to a star-like appearance.  The shape of this tree is also unusual.  ‘Okushimo’ has a vase-like growing habit with branches that reach upward.  Fall colors are yellow and gold.  ‘Okishumo’, which means “pepper-and-salt-leaf maple” can grow to a height of 10 feet.  This cultivar needs protection from hot sun.
