Acer palmatum Beni otake

'Beni otake', whose name means "big red bamboo", has a distinctive bamboo-like appearance.  Its strap-like leaves emerge red in spring, changing to crimson in fall.  This tree can grow to 12 feet in ten years, and can grow well in partial shade and full sun.  Its wispy appearance makes a statement in any garden.
