‘Akita yatsubusa’ certainly lives up to its name, which means “unusual autumn dwarf”. Buds open in spring to a pinkish color, quickly changing to yellow-green, then a medium green for the summer. Fall display is vivid oranges and reds. Akita yatsubusa is a true dwarf, only growing to about 3 feet in 10 years, with a natural bonsai form that does not need pruning!
