Acer palmatum Beni hime

‘Beni hime’, which means “red dwarf”, is among the smallest dwarf shrubs, only reaching 1 foot in ten years.  Its small leaves emerge pale pink to a rusty red.  Green tones creep in during midsummer, changing to a vibrant red in fall.  ‘Beni hime’ is happiest in full sun with good air circulation.
