‘Oto hime’, which means “little queen of the undersea world”, is named after a fable about a queen who reigned an undersea kingdom. This tight and dense cultivar lends itself more to bonsai culture than Kiyohime only reaching 2 feet after ten years. The leaves of ‘Oto hime’ emerge yellow-green with red edging in spring. Fall colors range from reds to yellows to oranges.
