‘Trompenburg’ began as a chance seedling selected by J.R.P. van Hoey-Smith at Trompenburg Arboretum in Netherlands, and introduced by Firma C. Esveld. This popular landscaping tree has rich, deep purple-red leaves that hold well all summer, even in full sun. The lobes radiate laterally and evenly, giving it the appearance of fingers extended from a hand. This upright cultivar may grow to 15 feet.
