Acer palmatum Herbstfeuer

'Herbstfeuer' has large, almost circular, green leaves on red leaf stalks.  Summer may bring bronze and purple tones to the dark green, before turning orange and red in fall.  Its name means 'autumn fire'.  This dense, upright maple will make a great specimen in sunny as well as shady gardens, growing to 16 feet in ten years.
