Acer palmatum Sumi nagashi
The large leaves of 'Sumi nagashi' emerge bright purple-red in spring darkening to a deep maroon in summer. The leaves gradually change to a greenish-red in late summer before turning crimson in fall. This vigorous, semi-upright tree makes a great addition to any partly shaded or shady garden. 'Sumi nagashi', also known as 'Suminagashi', grows to 12 feet in ten years.
