Acer palmatum Hefner’s Red

‘Hefner’s Red’ is not only similar to Bloodgood, but more superior than the standard red maple.  Its leaves open red in spring and darken to a deeper red in summer.  Its color holds well in partial shade and full sun, even in the humid southeast.  This upright maple will grow up to 12 feet in ten years.
